What is a Digital Will?

It may be used as visual proof that you were of sound mind when you made it. You may add explanations for the reasoning behind your choices. A video may help clarify your wishes and settle any will contests from relatives unhappy with their inheritance.

Recording someone reading their will can help show they were of sound mind and acting freely. A video can help show intent and competence. A Digital Will is not a substitute for a legally written will. 

An attorney does not need to be present for a video recording, but their involvement may add credibility if there are concerns about your mental capacity. 

While not required, it’s helpful for the person to state on video that they:

• Know their family members and property
• Understand they are making a will
• Are acting voluntarily
